There are many reasons why you would like to remove the white background from the images you have. Maybe you don’t at the moment have a transparent version of your logo, or you need to have a cutout of your product to create the composite. Thankfully you can easily do this in Adobe Photoshop, which has many options for getting rid of the white background.
Using Photoshop, you can remove any background, and you need a lot of practice.
Let us right now focus on removing the photoshop white background first. The technique and tool to use will depend on the quality of the image and its color. If the image that needs to be cut out has more dark colors and none of the light colors, you may use the easy Background Eraser or the Magic Eraser tools.
For images with light colors or detailed backgrounds, you will have to use a more detailed tool to erase important parts of the image mistakenly.
We will now remove the image background with the Magic Wand tool, the Quick Selection tool, and the Background eraser tool in the following tutorial.
Magic Wand Tool
Step 1: Open your image
Select an image from the folders and open it in Photoshop. Adjust the image in the center of the artboard to have easy editing.
Step 2: Unlock the layer
In the layers panel, then click on the lock to release it so that you can turn it into an editable layer. Then rename it from layer 0 to anything you would like. Alternatively, you may make a new layer by duplicating the first and then hiding it by clicking on that eye. This is only the case when you make a huge mistake that needs to be fixed.
Step 3: Select the magic eraser tool
Select the Magic Eraser Tool from the tools panel. It is the third in the eraser tab. Choose the following preferences:
Step 4: Now erase the background
If your image has a light-colored selection, it will also disappear in this step. For this, you might want to use the background Eraser Tool instead.
Step 5: Trim and then save a PNG:
Click on the trim option that is under the image tab. This will then cut off that extra transparent bit around your cutout. Export the artwork as the PNG file by clicking on the Save for Web under the file tab and then picking PNG.
Background Eraser Tool
Step 1: Repeat those first two steps from the Magic Eraser Option
Step 2: Select the Background Eraser Tool:
You may find it present in the eraser tab in the toolbar. The Background Eraser Tool cursor will be a circle with crosshairs in its center, and these crosshairs control this tool. It samples the color which is beneath it. Make the following adjustments for white background:
Size: 300-800 pt.
Sampling: Once or Background Swatch
Limits: Find Edges
Protect Foreground Color
Step 3: Erase the white background:
Place your cursor on the white area and then press the mouse button. Pressing on the mouse button, drag the cursor on the white area. As we have set the tolerance to be 20%, the eraser will not affect the rest of the colors that are not white. If the tolerance was a lot higher, the colors would be affected slightly. Try having different tolerance levels for the different images based on the color of the main graphic.
Step 4: Repeat the last two steps of the Magic Eraser option as well
Quick Selection Tool
Step 1: Open your image:
Select the image from your device and open it using Photoshop. center the graphic in the artboard.
Step 2: Duplicate the layer:
Unlock the duplicate image layer and then hide the frits one, keeping it under the one you will be working over. This layer with the original image is the safety net that will come in handy if you make a mistake while erasing your background. Name the layers using the descriptive names so that you know which one is which.
Step 3: Choose the quick selection tool:
Select the Quick Selection tool through the toolbar. It is in there with the Magic Wand Tool. Then adjust the preferences for the cursor as follows:
Size: 100 px
Step 4: Select the object:
Pressing on the mouse button, drag the cursor over the object that you want to separate from the background. This technique will select the object instead of the white background to get a lot more control over the selection. It is practical when the background isn’t even.
Keep your cursor over the object and on the inside of the edge of the selection so that it won’t go that far over in the background. Once you leave the cursor, the options over the preference bar will now change; you will only get the choice of adding or subtracting to and from your selection. The new selection option will then undo the selection that you already have.
Step 5: Refine the selection
It is also very probable that the selection is not perfect, so we will have to refine it using the brush tool. Click q on your keyboard, and the image will now show the red part. This red area is the non selected area of the image you have. Zoom into the image and now choose the Brush tool to touch on the edges. Use white to add to the selection and black to unselect. Reduce the brush size to have a lot more control in the tighter spaces and the tricky edges.
Step 6: Invert the selection:
Once that you are sure that this object is selected rightly, invert the selection. When the background is completely selected, erase it, and you will now see the transparency grid.
Step 7: Repeat the last two of the steps in the Magic Eraser option listed above.
Pen tool :
We have different tools to use here. but we use a pen tool for cutting the background out from the product .pen tool does work very neatly .we can remove every inch and every unwanted detail from the image. It makes the leading photo portable that can easily move at any corner of the frame .and the using method of the pen tool is easy also .magic tools and others tool that can remove background with very short time but we don’t get the neat finishing using another tool .the process of doing clipping path by pen tool :
First, we need to open the picture in photoshop, and then we need to copy a background layer.
Now choosing one corner point of the product that we wanna make portable is our second step .and then click the right button of the mouse and drag it down to the point we need to select .here the path we are drawing outside the product, the inside portion of the outline will contain and outside of the portion will be deleted.
After selecting the portion we need to save it. we need to save the selection because if we wanna overwrite the selection we can easily do it.
The final step will be just pressing the enter button and it’s been completed.
